In what could be taken as the ‘worst’ mistake of her life, a woman in Srinagar reportedly paid a golden coin as transport fare here, almost a week before.
The woman, as learnt, handed over a gold coin to a conductor of the passenger vehicle while travelling from Govind Ballabh (GB) Pant up to the Radio Kashmir Gate stretch on January 18, 2024 (Thursday).
The woman, a resident of Batmaloo, has reportedly maintained that she intended to sell the coin to cover the medical expenses of her brother-in-law. “I boarded a Mazda bus around 10:30 in the morning near GB Pant Hospital, Sonawar, and got down near Radio Kashmir Gate. I went to the jeweller and realised that I have one coin less in my purse.”
She however soon understood that she had given a gold coin to the conductor instead of a 10-rupee coin. “This coin belonged to my sister, and she needed cash in exchange for the treatment of her husband, who is admitted at AIIMS Delhi,” she maintains.
She is now appealing to the concerned bus conductor to return her gold item on humanitarian grounds. “If this post reaches the conductor of the bus, I request him to get in touch with us at 7006807001.”
