A loud blast took place near a CRPF school in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar area, the Delhi Police on Monday (October 20) informed. The police said that while no casualties were reported in the incident, a thorough investigation is presently underway to ascertain what actually led to the blast.

The Delhi Police said the incident was first reported around 7:47 am when a caller informed them of a blast that occurred near the CRPF School situated in the Sector 14 area of Rohini. A team of officials immediately rushed to the spot and found the school’s wall damaged.

“SHO/PV and staff reached the spot, where the school wall was found damaged with a foul smell,” the police stated in a report.

“The windows of a nearby shop and a car parked near the shop were also damaged. However, no one was injured,” they added.

Investigation underway

It is pertinent to note that the crime team, FSL team, bomb disposal squad, NSG team, special cell terror team and fire brigade officials are at the spot and are investigating the cause of the blast.  A senior official, speaking of the details of the incident mentioned, “Our forensic team and crime unit are at the spot to collect samples from the blast location.” “It could be a firecracker, but we are investigating the entire matter from all angles,” he added.

Further, in the aftremath of the incident, an alert has been sounded to nearby police stations to increase vigil and checking. “Foot patrolling has also been intensified in different markets. We request everyone to inform the police immediately if they see any suspected item,” another senior official medtioned.
