Handwara: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference senior leader Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan Saturday claimed that he alongside his delegation was barred from performing Fatiha Khawani at Mazar-e-Shuhdaa in Handwara on the eve of Martyrs Day.

In a statement, Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan said, “The brave souls of 1931 laid down their lives to build a foundation for democracy, equality, and liberty in the State, which we must protect and cherish. The greatest tribute we can pay them is to foster a tolerant society free of religious, regional, and caste distinctions.”

“Undeterred by the restrictions imposed by the authorities, a heartfelt Fatiha Khawani was held at Chowdhary Manzil Handwara,” reads the statement.

“Numerous JKNC workers gathered to honor the martyrs, alongside Langate constituency in-charge Shafkat Watali. Prayers were offered for the martyrs of July 13, highlighting their ultimate sacrifice and eternal legacy,” the statement further reads.
