Srinagar: After a successful completion of poll results here on Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir assembly is likely to get its Chief Minister on coming Sunday. The house had fallen vacant after PDP’s the then coalition partner BJP withdrew its support in 2016.

The pre-emptive fall of the government was followed by multiple constitutional developments in August 2019 even as Jammu and Kashmir stripped of its status of a State and demoted to a Union territory.

Now as the elections are formally over with the results made public, the two prime allies National Conference and Congress, having secured the magical number to form government, it is being expected that the Chief Minister, is set to take oath by or before coming Saturday.

If the sources are to be believed, the JKNC incumbent President Omar Abdullah, is likely to ascend the throne to lead the government.
