Kupwara: An encounter broke out between Army troops and militants in the forest area along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Macchil sector of Kupwara on Saturday, defence officials said.
As per news agency ANI, five Indian Army soldiers including a Major rank officer suffered injuries in the encounter. “All five troops were evacuated from the location. One of the injured soldiers has lost his life due to injuries.”
Pertinent to mention here that in the last few months, there has been a spike in militant attacks in the Jammu region, including the attack on an army convoy in Kathua and encounters in Doda and Udhampur.
