Srinagar: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari emphasized the significance of the Indian Constitution while addressing reporters after a flag hoisting ceremony at the party headquarters in Church Lane, Srinagar, on the occasion of Republic Day.
“This is one of the most significant days, marking the adoption of the Constitution—a vital document that guarantees fundamental rights to every citizen, from freedom of speech to the right to live with dignity. Our Constitution is a beacon of democratic principles, celebrated with zeal across the country,” Bukhari said.
Responding to questions about the performance of the present government, Bukhari stated that it is premature to pass judgment but called on the administration to prioritize the release of detainees.
“Forget whether they will bring back Article 370 or restore statehood. Leave aside promises of free electricity, increased ration quotas, and regularization of daily wagers. At the very least, I hope the government fulfills its promise of securing the release of our jailed youth,” he remarked.
Reflecting on the party’s agenda since its inception on March 8, 2020, Bukhari said that the Apni Party has consistently worked to safeguard the rights of Jammu and Kashmir residents.
“Our party promised to protect land and job rights for the people of J&K. We convinced the central government to issue a notification ensuring these exclusive rights. Similarly, we will continue to strive for the restoration of statehood,” he added.
The ceremony concluded with an exchange of greetings among participants, with sweets distributed to celebrate the day.
