SRINAGAR: At least six persons were killed, five others injured, and one reported missing after an avalanche struck a passenger vehicle at Zojila Pass on Friday.
Quoting senior official, news agency Kashmir News Corner reported that the vehicle was hit by a massive snow slide, resulting in on-the-spot deaths of six occupants, while five others sustained injuries, one is missing.
“Efforts are also underway to trace the missing person,” the official said.
Rescue teams rushed to the site soon after the incident and launched a massive operation to evacuate the injured and retrieve the bodies from the debris, official said.
The injured have been shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment, official said.
Authorities added that rescue and clearance operations are still in progress, and further details are awaited. (KNC)
