Srinagar: A family of five members including a couple and their three children died due to apparent suffocation in a rented accommodation here on Sunday, official said.
They said that the incident took place at Shiekh Mohalla in Pandarethan area in Srinagar.
A police party, they said, rushed to the area after being informed that five members of a family were in an unconscious state and subsequently they were shifted to a hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.
The family is said to be from Baramulla, they said. An electric blower was found in the confined room, they said.
Police said that a case has been registered and medico-legal proceedings are underway.
“The cause of the death appears due to suffocation but investigation are still underway in this regard,” a police official said. -(GNS)
