SRINAGAR: Union Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi announced in the Lok Sabha that nearly 100 per cent of ration cards across India have been digitised, covering approximately 20.58 crore households.

Replying to supplementary questions during the Question Hour, Joshi stated that the government will continue providing free rations under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) until 2029. Eligible households receive five kilograms of food grains per person each month under the scheme.

The minister emphasised that the digitisation drive has strengthened transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in the public distribution system, ensuring that beneficiaries can reliably receive their entitled food grains. -(KL)
